**Role Mission**


To satisfy our customers and contribute to the sustainable growth of Mack Defense LLC

The SQE is responsible to manage all quality activities related to suppliers:


+ Source Selection phase - Audit suppliers and actively participate in sourcing activities

+ Project phase - Follow Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology to industrialize

+ Production life - Continued Quality Assurance and Warranty Corrective Action activities


**Core Responsibilities**


+ Source Selection & APQP - Advanced Product Quality Planning

+ Evaluate and Audit suppliers using a Short Supplier Evaluation Model (SSEM), evaluate supplier processes and risks for our projects

+ Build the Audit report - provide the evaluation and recommendation to the Sourcing Decision Body and the Teams in charge of the sourcing

+ Manage supplier quality assurance between the supplier and Mack Defense teams for development and start of production for parts, equipment & systems

+ Plan and report progress of the APQP, following project requirements

+ Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering and the Suppliers to identify Key and Critical components, and participate in the Review of Technical Specifications (RTS) and Production Application Agreement (PAA) processes

+ Provide expertise in quality methodology and knowledge of supplier processes in all phases, in particular for the RTS and PAA to support the other Departments

+ Perform the Process Audits to validate the production readiness of a supplier

+ Support supplier and validate submissions of samples through PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) / FAI (First Article Inspection) and assure proper entry of supplier tooling into the ERP


**Production life**


+ Manage perceived supplier quality issues: problem solving methodology 8D (analyze the root cause, corrective actions, return of experience)

+ Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure the actual quality performance of suppliers and provide feedback to them and Purchasing team

+ Promote quality improvement activities at suppliers (Audits, target setting, improvement actions, active participation to Business Review Meetings,...)

+ Provide support to our Plants for resolution of supplier quality issues


**Warranty / after sales**


+ Represent Supplier Quality Assurance within the appropriate committees

+ Support the warranty claim and financial compensation process


**Bodybuilders / superstructures**


+ Perform Product Audit and formal acceptance before delivery of the truck to the end customer, in compliance with the applicable truck and bodybuilder regulations and requirements

+ Clearly identify mandatory and optional improvements before product acceptance. Request the corresponding action plan from the supplier, with expectations complementary to the customer delivery requirements. Ensure necessary product modifications are implemented for the required customer delivery


**Special Processes (surface treatment / paint)**

Manage the qualification of special processes:


+ Evaluate supplier response and commitment to our process requirements

+ Evaluate the test result with the Laboratory, Supplier, and appropriate Technical Department and take any necessary countermeasures to reach the required level of conformity

+ Audit supplier processes according to the Volvo STIM - Surface Treatment Index Monitoring


**Critical Competencies**


+ Travel, up to 50%

+ Ability to champion, to the supplier base, our organization's quality process vision, values, and processes by fostering the continuous improvement of all operational and business practices

+ Demonstrated broad, in-depth, and up-to-date knowledge of pertinent technical, business and professional fields.

+ Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to establish priorities

+ Flexibility to work in a fast paced, cross functional, matrix management, team oriented environment

+ Experience in taking the lead in getting the job done and accepting responsibility for personal actions and results. Able to take initiative and manage cross functional working groups


**Minimum Education and Experience**


+ BS in Engineering or 5 years equivalent industry experience, MS preferred

+ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or equivalent experience, required

+ Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Experience preferred

+ Experience with ISO 9001 and/or TS 16949 preferred, with Auditor experience desired. ISO 14001 experience considered a plus

+ Five to seven years of experience as SQE in the Defense, Automotive, Aerospace, or Equipment Industr

+ Experience in a Corporate Engineering work environment a plus

+ Experience with use of Corporate ERP systems is required (Epicor preferred)

+ Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer software including MS Office Suite
